Anyone who is a retiree and concerned about Social Security for the first time, I have to wonder where you have been for the past ten years.
--
Year after year congress ignores the plight of Social Security. The Republicans can't wait to do away with the program. Congress borrowed heavily from the program and now they have to pay it back out of the general fund.
--
Years ago they could have solved the SS short fall by removing the cap on SS payroll contributions. As it stands if you are wealthy you stop paying into SS when you reach $168,600.
--
Does anyone really need a automatic tax cut when they reach $168,600 in income? Certainly not a huge sacrifice to keep an important program alive.

What's congress doing--nothing as usual.
