As a life long do-it-yourselfer I've always owned a truck. I imagine folks who's go-to is to call a contractor or some repair service might not understand the need for a truck.

Perhaps you have never had the need for a sheet of plywood (4' x 8') it's a tough fit in a Honda Civic. I can't count the number of project over the years that have called for multiple sheets of plywood. Or how about a load of top soil or gravel or shredded bark for when I replaced our lawns front and back ten years ago, not so nice in the trunk of a car. Nor does a load of demolition from remodeling projects. If you like to build things you need a truck. It has nothing to do with feeling important about yourself, I've leave that to the owners of sports cars and SUV's.

At 71 I'll never buy another vehicle, but if I did it would be an electric truck.
