Moving 3 million mostly city dwellers off the grid is not. Most will die. Same thing worldwide. What works for one family does not translate easily for 8 billion people. Imagine 8 billion suddenly striking out to live off the land. Overpopulation will be our ultimate death sentence. Right now, without industrial agriculture half the planet would starve. Yet industrial ag is not sustainable because it relies on fertilizer, insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides all derived from fossil fuels. We have overshot the natural carrying capacity of our planet. The Earth does not have the natural capacity to support 8 billion people. Yes, we are fucked.
