Rent is defined as the price paid for the use of a real asset. As such rent, like all prices, comes about through the interaction of supply and demand. Blaming corporate greed is not accurate just as Biden blamed generally high prices on price gouging and corporate greed.

Blackrock has purchased 84,567 homes. How'd you like to compete with a corporation to buy a home? In all 574,000 single-family homes nationwide were purchased by institutional investors.

I'll bet they are all terrific landlords that offer a great deal on rent, not to mention all the single family home taken off the market that are no longer available for families to purchase.
