Capitalism and scaling back, consuming less, wasting less are incompatible. Unless there is a way to profit from saving the environment it won't happen. It's profitable to pillage, destroy and pollute the environment, it's a loser to fix and repair it. We need to move from of system of competition to one of cooperation. I don’t think the United States is capable of that. It takes an intelligent population, willing to sacrifice now, to ensure a future for generations to come. 73 million Americans just voted for a complete imbecile for president. A president who rolled back any environmental progress made in the last ten years. Those people are so ignorant that they believe the election was stolen, in the face of losing over 60 court challenges. Those 73 million care nothing for the environment. They don’t even believe there is a problem. The human race is headed for extinction because we are too ignorant to face human caused climate change and do anything about it.
