Capitalism worked quite well in the U.S. from WWII until the mid '80s and the advent of trickle down economics. We had a strong middle class and a powerful economy with limited income inequality. Capitalism works fine when income is distributed across the workforce. In the '70s the biggest employer in the U.S. was General Motors, a corporation that offered good paying jobs, benefits and pensions. Today the biggest employer in the U.S. is Walmart with none of the above.
