Don't know why you'd find the collapse surprising, Christianity in the US has devolved into a political power grab and belief in Jesus and what he represents has been replaced with belief in Donald Trump and what he represents. Talk about rot from within, I can't imagine a more disgusting scenario. I watched in disgust as Christian leaders kissed the feet of Trump for a liar's promise of a bit of political power so they could lord their beliefs over the nation. I watched Christians fall apart at the very thought of baking a wedding cake for a gay couple. Such faith, little wonder people are deserting. Trump sent by God, that's as farcical and degrading as anything I can imagine. Christianity gave up all credibility when they join hands with Trump. What's glaringly missing from Christianity is any hint of love.
