There are banks that offer new credit cards when you transfer your existing balance to their cards. The incentive is 15 to 21 months interest free on the transfer balance. This can give you a boost to your above strategy, but ONLY IF YOU CUT UP THE OLD CARD AND DON'T GO ON A SPENDING SPREE.
