Great article, good detail. Question: Where are you doing this project. I doubt in California you could connect anything to an apartment building without the owner’s permission. Here we have to also get the utility involved to install a special meter "net metering." When my solar panels produce more electricity than I'm consuming within the house, energy flows to the grid and my meter runs backward. So the "net" result at the end of the month is how much I actually pulled from the grid.

I'm wondering if your meters work the same way, or maybe all meters work the same way and the utility just slapped a sticker on my old meter?
