I did not mean to come across that way, I'm sorry if I did. If you had read some of my articles on inequality you'd discover that I feel the average person has the deck stacked against him in our economy. Workers have been reduced to cogs in the wheel instead of contributors to business success. We are constantly bombarded with advertising urging us to overconsume and live up to unrealistic standards. The government even refers to us as consumers, not citizens, consumers. I have also written many times about the importance of Social Security which is an important program for all Americans but is constantly under attack by conservatives. I also worked two jobs out of necessity after a financially draining divorce where I traded assets and money for a meaningful and regular weekly arrangement with my kids.

All I really advocate is spend less, save more. Living the dream on credit leads to financial ruin.
