I don't have anything in common with the ultra conservative parents you describe. I'm well aware of the struggles my kids have faced economically. I'm well aware that the expectation that each generation will do better than the last died with the boomers.

My extended family certainly do not agree on everything, but we have yet to make any adult sit at the "children's table" because we don't their political views.
