I owned several Beetles and a 1960 Bus. The pure simplicity of the 36 horsepower engine was amazing. With the standard 10 gallon tank it would you 300 miles. The early models did not have a gas gauge. Instead it had a lever on the floor that let you switch to the one gallon reserve tank when your original 10 gallons ran out. Can't count the number of times I switched over to reserve then forgot about it till it too ran dry.
