I understand what the article is about. But the fact remains that the earth and its resources are finite. Rather than nurturing the resources we have, we are polluting them as fast as we can. I live in the United States where 73.6 million people voted to re-elect a madman for president who has succeeded in rolling back every environmental regulation he can get his hands on.
If we were rabbits I might buy your reasoning that because we are rabbits and have always multiplied like rabbits it is inevitable that we continue to do so. But we are supposed to be intelligent creatures (although I could argue that in the United States at least half the population is getting dumber), however, as intelligent creatures it should not be that difficult to understand that a finite planet simple can not sustain exponential population growth.
Any talk of other planets simply distracts, pacifies and delays the hard decisions. The solution, hard as it may be is each woman gets one child voucher. Sell it, trade it or have a child. No exceptions until we shrink the population to a sustainable level. Otherwise humans will simple die out, and the rest of the animal kingdom will heave a collective great sigh of relief.
