I'm cranky, old and white and to me woke means heightened awareness of the our history and how it affects our lives today. Some people are content to swallow the white-washed history we are fed in school, but a few college professors opened my eyes to the real history of the U.S. I believe that past is there to learn from--and we have learned nothing.
