I'm not sure why he felt the need to defend himself. He was a 17 year old kid who put himself in a situation he did not belong. He should have been at home. I have no problem with people defending their own property. He had no property to defend. He could have shot and killed a property owner for all he knew. Maybe if he was your kid he would have made you proud. If he was my kid he would have wished to God that they sent him to jail. He sure as hell would have never laid hands on the rifle again. Rittenhouse's actions are as much a poor parenting problem as a political problem.
