It's not just animal feed that's dependent on fertilizer, but all our food crops are as well. We are heavily dependent on fertilizer derived from natural gas and herbicides, pesticides and fungicides derived from petroleum by-products. In addition our seed stock has been genetically modified to rely on these inputs.
