I've suffered from depression since my late 20's. We have a similar trigger: becoming overwhelmed. The combination of four years of Trump, the pandemic and another year of smoke and fires in California, all make it hard to stay out of the black pit of depression. It is good to talk about it, shine some light on it, but that's the last thing you want to do when you are down. It took me years to face up to depression and see a doctor about it. But even on medication this year has been tough. When you are down it's hard to find the motivation to do anything. But if I can find a way to take the first step and cross just one small thing off my list, it is the beginning of the way back for me. I can never figure out why it's so difficult to take the one small step.
