Let's use some real numbers. A realtor sells a $1,000,000 property at a 5 percent commission. The fee is $50,000. If he sells a $200,000 property the fee is $10,000. Does the realtor put out five times the effort to sell the million dollar property? No way, in fact it's probably easier to sell a property to a well heeled buyer than to someone who is trying to scrape together the minimum down payment. Realtors should be paid a set fee for their work, because it's basically the same work and time spent to sell either property.
