Modern humans put profit over survival. How can we call ourselves an intelligent species when our activities are destroying the atmosphere of the only nearby planet that supports life? Then the folly and hubris of thinking we can terraform a totally hostile environment like Mars, while we give up saving our own planet.

I have no doubt that we are on the road to extinction because human priorities are totally fucked up. Humanity is like a machine that is programed with one prime directive--make a profit and accumulate wealth. We can't see past that even when faced with our own extinction.
