My son has been teaching middle school for 5 years. Kids all have cell phones, but the school has a simple policy. If you take your cell phone out in class you lose it for the class period, the student has to place the phone on the teacher's desk. If you argue you have to turn your phone into the office and your parent has to pick it up.
