My wish has nothing to do with it. Eight billion people use up far more resources than the Earth can replenish in a year--overshoot. Sure birth rates are declining in developed countries, but the Earth's human population is still expected to hit 10.4 billion by 2100. More people more waste, more emissions, more demand for electricity--much more than can be offset by voluntary cutbacks of our rampant consumerism. Besides unless there is some sort of rationing, how much will people be willing to cutback? All the while the people of developing countries yearn for a better life. Who can blame them? If you took a poll I imagine most people want more, not less. I doubt most people would want my life style. My wife and I don't travel. We live simply. We pretty much stay home. We drive very little. We enjoy our family and grandchildren and that's about it.
