Oh man, this article hit me like a ton of bricks. My wife is a year older than me but these days she kicks my ass. I've always been the athletic one, the adventurous one who could convince Suzy that we could go backpacking for a week or that she could learn to ski. I taught her how to play competitive volleyball. Additionally I've been a lifelong do it yourselfer, now I seem to be asking for help all the time.

But apparently, in spite of otherwise good health, I have poor joints. My wife and I love to walk, but now after two knee replacements, a hip replacement and a very recent and debilitating revision of my right knee which is basically a do over, I feel like I'm learning to walk again. Right now I struggle to move around the house. So I feel for your husband. Don't know how old you guys are, but I'm 72, and it sort of sucks.
