Because of our dysfunctional government and the inability and the unwillingness of our elected representatives works towards solutions for the good of the country, I have a very dismal view of American politics. In a pure sense politics and politicians would seek compromise and consensus looking out for what’s best for the people and the country. You say it began with Newt Gingrich, I saw it with Mitch McConnel and his desire to block Obama on every turn.

Trump uses the ideology of his party vs the vile democrats as an excuse for his unlawful acts. He never breaks the law, it’s always a witch hunt because the opposition party is always out to get him. To most people, that’s how Trump’s politics work.
