Our institutions point everyone toward college, yet only 42% of Americans have a college degree. I don't believe education is the reason so many Americans hate their jobs but rather that we pretend that a college degree is the only path to meaningful employment. If we honored trades as we once did and offered alternatives to college prep classes then we could possibly restore a tradesmen's pride of place. Our educational system points us to college and pretends all other paths to employment are not worthy of consideration.
