Part of the solution is education. The more educated women become the less likely they will settle for being child bearing pawns of our male dominated society. A big part of the problem is capitalism's never ending demand for growth and consumption. Capitalism is very good at concentrating wealth into the hands of a few, concentrating the power, and then wielding the power to maintain the status quo. That has to change. We need to evolve from a system based on competition to one based on cooperation. Part of that cooperation has to be some simple mechanism to halt and reverse population growth. I would suggest one woman, one child bearing voucher world wide. A woman could choose to use, sell it or trade it. We once had a beautiful planet, but if be continue to exponentially add to the population and if be continue to harvest all the resources, burying our world in plastic and pollution in the never ending quest for profit, we are doomed.
