Scott thanks for the thoughtful reply. As I consider your points we disagree about continued growth and economic development. But since neither of us has the power to do much about it, I can't see where it really matters.

We live on a planet with finite resources. If we continue to grow and expand, even with all our technological and scientific improvements we will out strip our resources. The United Nations Conference of Parties COP just met for the 26th year. The participants include just about every country in the world. every year they make pledges, every year our global climate change situation gets worse.

I'd be inclined to believe that incremental steps were working if we were exhibiting incremental improvements to our climate, but we are not.

In 1960 our population was a bit over 3 billion? Are we better off today with 6.9 billion or tomorrow with 12 billion?
