Set all of Trump’s politics aside, you still have a disgusting example of the human race in the White House. You write, “ If Trump was pro-choice, for LGBTQ+ rights, and on the blue ticket would we have been the ones to keep him out of office?” So in order to get your way, you’d be willing to overlook all of his short comings. If you choose to normalize his behavior, to get your way, I can’t accept that. I’m not ready to make that kind of compromise. Under no circumstances is a cretin like Trump acceptable as the leader of our country. I understand why people voted for Trump over Clinton. It’s a lot harder to understand why they stick with him, but I keep trying. For the most part, conservatives seem to have a hard time articulating what Trump has accomplished. Sure he’s packed the courts with conservative judges and he’s given a massive tax cut to the rich. In return evangelical Christians have sold out their core values for pro birth, the rest of the world looks at us with disgust, out budget deficit is soaring, we’re back in a nuclear arms race and world trade is a mess. And note to kindergarten teachers: name calling and ridicule now has the presidential seal of approval. If we choose to normalize Trump’s behavior as the new presidential norm, I think it’s time to start rooting for climate change so the earth can rid itself of the human curse once and for all.
