This is the crux of inequality, Crushing inequality is driving the rejection of capitalism. Capitalism worked pretty well from WWII until the 1980s then tax cutting, deregulation and greed corrupted a good system. The top marginal tax bracket during that time period never dipped below 70 percent. We had strong regularity controls governing business. Also in the 70's CEO pay to worker pay was about 20-1, now it's upwards of 350-1.

My parents got by on one income and could afford to buy a house, a car and take a vacation. We were certainly never rich my any means, but we were not poor either.

My wife and I both had to work full time to accomplish the same as my parents.

My kids need two good incomes and maybe a side hustle to keep pace.

It's little wonder the current generations are disillusioned by capitalism, I am too.
