We believe we are citizens, but we are really just consumers. The best consumers throw away the ancient two year old stuff and buy brand new. They are gold star consumers and they warm corporate hearts. Ditch Windows and switch to Linux. I did it a couple of years ago and never looked back. The hardest thing to part with was Photoshop. But I found GIMP to be more powerful and full featured. Join the world of free software. When I was a middle school teacher I used to run Linux servers for the students on equipment that struggled with Windows. That was twenty years ago, I could run the entire computer lab on Linux now and suffer far fewer problems than my Windows lab. The only thing that saved me was a piece of software called Ghost. All my computers had two hard drives, one for the system and programs and one for student work and the Ghost backup image. If Windows went down (a frequent occurrence) if could rebuild the original system from the Ghost image on drive #2 during the passing period. Student were supposed to save work at the end of the period in their network file, but sometimes it was left on drive #2. No matter drive #2 never crashed, only drive #1 with the Windows system.
