When it comes to a choice between climate change and protecting the economy, the economy wins every time--no contest. We could perhaps have the strongest economy in the whole has humanity slips towards extinction.

I read a good article this week that altered my thinking. The premise was that we do not include the cost of environmental degradation into the cost of our goods and services. If we are to continue with capitalism, we need to include the true cost of every good and service consumed. These cost are currently ignored as externalities--extraneous to the cost of production.
