When our kids were young we made a decision the TV was detrimental to progress through school. For two teachers this was not an agonizing decision. As the oldest of five reached high school we felt it would be socially awkward to be complete ignorant of television programing so we put a TV in their room.

But as adults we had cut the cord for good and have existed quite peacefully without any network TV. We are both avid readers, we take two newspapers and get our news online from the BBC, NPR and the New York Times.
