Why not? Capitalism is not the answer. Capitalism demands growth, expansion, new markets, new consumer goods, trash and replace with the latest and greatest. A step in the right direction would be cooperative capitalism, worker owned and worker controlled. A move in the direction of rewarding the worker as opposed to the do-nothing investor.

But even at that the focus has to consolidation and de-growth. We must repair rather than replace. We must abandon the desire for the next new, improved "thing." We have to cut fossil fuel use in half tomorrow. We need to change our energy habits. Capitalism won't help with any of that. Capitalism does not function with out a profit motive.
