Would you want your home overrun every year, during the best months of the year, by a bunch of gawking assholes? Think about how that would impact your own community. I live in a college town which I believe has many benefits, but when the students first arrive in the fall until they leave in the late spring our town is a much busier place. But at least the students settle in. Imagine a place with new hordes arriving and departing on a daily basis.
