You touch on a few possibilities for who might be footing the bill for work averse people, but why would they continue to do so over the long haul? I don’t think most people have someone ready and willing to carry them through life as an added expense. I never considered work as something that was optional, my independence was too important.
An individual commented below that “today’s work sucks.” I definitely understand that. Our economy has changed from one in which General Motors was the biggest employer, an employer who paid well for full time work that included vacation and benefits, to an economy where Walmart is the nation’s biggest employer. Walmart pays poorly, keeps the hours of most employees under the benefit threshold and encourages employees to apply for government welfare to supplement their meager wages.
